Jerusalem, Monday, 20 October 2025 — The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed Monday evening that Israel has received the remains of a deceased hostage through the Red Cross. The handover occurred inside the Gaza Strip, where IDF and ISA personnel took possession of the coffin before transferring it to Israel.

A military ceremony, attended by an IDF Rabbi, will formally receive the coffin upon arrival. It will then be sent to the National Center of Forensic Medicine under the Health Ministry for identification. Once the process is complete, authorities will officially inform the hostage’s family.

According to the statement, all families of the hostages have been updated about the development. “Our hearts are with the families during this difficult time,” the statement said, reaffirming that efforts to return all remaining hostages “will continue until the last one is home.”

Officials have urged the public to respect the families’ privacy and to avoid spreading unverified or unofficial information. The government assured that updates will continue to be provided through official and reliable sources as needed.
