The Prime Minister’s Office released a strongly worded statement today (Tuesday, September 10, 2024), condemning remarks made by the prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. The statement criticized the prosecutor for drawing a comparison between Israel’s Prime Minister and Defense Minister, who are engaged in a military campaign against Hamas, and Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader responsible for executing Israeli hostages.
The Israeli government described the comparison as “pure antisemitism and a moral disgrace of the highest order.” The Prime Minister’s Office emphasized that Israel’s military operations against Hamas terrorism are conducted in accordance with the laws of war, while Sinwar, who has overseen the cold-blooded execution of hostages, is a war criminal.
The statement also pointed to what it sees as a pattern of bias in the ICC’s proceedings, labeling the court’s actions as politically motivated and without legitimate legal grounding. The Israeli government has long criticized the ICC’s approach, claiming that its investigations into Israeli actions lack neutrality and professional legal standards.
The issue has reignited tensions over the role of the ICC in international conflicts, with Israel continuing to challenge the court’s jurisdiction and the legitimacy of its investigations.–News Desk
