Leapfest 2025 Showcases Elite Paratrooper Skills
On August 2, 2025, U.S. Army and international paratroopers competed in Leapfest, the world’s largest and longest-running static line parachute training event. Organized by the Rhode Island Army National Guard’s 56th Troop Command, this annual competition brought together airborne soldiers to test their precision and agility.
Participants leaped from CH-47 Chinook helicopters, deploying MC-6 steerable parachutes to guide themselves toward marked targets in the drop zone. Judges evaluated competitors based on landing speed, the accuracy of their parachute landing fall, and their ability to hit the designated target area.
Leapfest featured both individual and team competitions, with awards given to those achieving the fastest combined times. Beyond the rivalry, the event fostered unity and mutual respect among global airborne forces, strengthening bonds through shared challenges.
The competition highlighted the skill and dedication of paratroopers, emphasizing not only technical prowess but also the spirit of camaraderie that defines the airborne community. Leapfest 2025 once again proved to be a dynamic celebration of elite military training and international cooperation.
