Pakistan Nominates Donald Trump for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize
Pakistan has officially nominated former U.S. President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in helping to broker a ceasefire between Pakistan and India last month.
The ceasefire helped de-escalate rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, following a period of heightened military activity along their disputed border. Pakistani officials credited Trump with facilitating backchannel diplomacy that averted broader conflict in the region.
In a formal recommendation submitted to the Nobel Committee, Pakistan praised Trump’s “constructive role in regional peace-building” and highlighted his past diplomatic efforts in South Asia and the Middle East.
The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded annually by the Norwegian Nobel Committee to individuals or groups who have made significant contributions to global peace. While nominations do not guarantee selection, the endorsement adds to a growing list of international figures who have backed Trump for the honor in recent years.
The Nobel Committee has not yet responded to Pakistan’s nomination.
