Union Says Attacks on Palestinian Media Intensified in 2025

Palestinian Journalists Union Accuses Israel of Silencing the Press

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate has accused Israel of carrying out a systematic campaign to silence Palestinian journalists, saying attacks on media workers have intensified sharply in 2025.

In a statement released on Friday, the syndicate said Israeli forces have deliberately targeted members of the press in an effort to weaken and suppress the Palestinian narrative.

Report Highlights Escalation Since 2023

According to the syndicate, violence against Palestinian journalists began rising in October 2023 and has since reached its highest level. The report states that dozens of journalists have been killed, injured, or permanently disabled during this period.

The Freedoms Committee of the syndicate said these actions form part of a broader policy aimed at preventing independent reporting from Palestinian areas.

Allegations of Systematic Targeting

The committee described Israel’s approach as a strategy of “silencing the press through killing, injury and permanent disability.” It warned that continued attacks on journalists threaten press freedom and restrict access to information during ongoing conflict.
