A gas explosion at a coal mine in northern China has left at least 82 people dead, according to state media reports.
The incident occurred on Friday evening at the Liushenyu coal mine in Qinyuan county, located in Shanxi, when 247 miners were working underground at the time of the blast.
The report, carried by Xinhua News Agency and cited by Anadolu sources, confirmed that emergency teams remain on site as search and rescue operations continue for missing workers.
The mine, identified as Liushenyu coal mine in Qinyuan county, is now at the center of a major disaster response effort as authorities assess the scale of damage and casualties.
Rescue crews are continuing operations underground while officials investigate the cause of the deadly explosion.
