Russia Hits Six Ukrainian Energy Facilities

Ukraine Reports Energy Strikes After Ceasefire Announcement

Ukraine Reports Six Energy Facilities Struck After Ceasefire Announcement

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported that Russia attacked six Ukrainian energy facilities just hours after US President Donald Trump announced an agreement for an energy ceasefire between the two countries.

Trump said on Sunday that the truce would take effect immediately. However, Zelensky stated that Russian forces had continued targeting gas facilities, energy infrastructure and other sites across Ukraine.

According to Ukraine’s state news agency Ukrinform, a Russian attack damaged electricity networks in the city of Izyum, resulting in power outages. Energy and railway infrastructure in western Ukraine also came under attack overnight.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that Ukraine did not deserve the relief that a ceasefire would provide.

The reported attacks have raised questions about the implementation of the proposed energy truce, as both sides continue to exchange accusations amid the ongoing conflict.
