Saudi Coalition Says Four Drones Intercepted Over Kingdom

ISTANBUL, October 17, 2026 — The Saudi-led coalition operating in Yemen said Saturday that its forces had intercepted and destroyed four drones over different parts of Saudi Arabia.

Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki announced on X that the drones had been brought down over the Riyadh, Eastern and Southern regions during the preceding hours.

No further information about the drones, their origin or any potential damage was immediately released.

Yemen Conflict Spreads Across the Border

Yemen has remained embroiled in conflict since the Houthi movement seized the capital, Sanaa, and several other provinces in 2014. The developments prompted a Saudi-led military coalition to intervene in 2015 in support of Yemen’s internationally recognized government.

Fighting has intensified since July 2026, with hostilities extending into neighboring Saudi Arabia. Houthi forces have reportedly targeted energy infrastructure and aviation facilities, including airports, raising security concerns across the region.
