An elderly man in Scarborough, Lawrence Huang, has been left without a roof over his home after a roofing project went wrong, forcing him to stay in motels. He says he cannot afford to rebuild the damaged property after his insurance company rejected most of his claim.
The incident began in late May when representatives from Super Dry Roofing and Masonry approached Huang at his home. They reportedly told him that his roof had a serious rodent infestation and significant damage, making a complete replacement necessary.
However, the contractors later abandoned the project after removing the roof, leaving the house exposed and severely damaged. Huang now faces substantial repair costs and says he has no financial means to restore his home.
His insurance provider has refused to cover the damage, explaining in a letter that its policy does not cover faulty workmanship. Meanwhile, police are investigating the case over suspicions of possible fraud.
