Trump Claims Zelenskyy Backs Democrats, Promises Peace Talks if Elected

During a rally in Pennsylvania on Monday, former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy supports the Democratic Party in the upcoming U.S. elections. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, suggested that Zelenskyy is eager for a Democratic win, calling him “the greatest salesman in history” for securing billions in U.S. aid.

“He wants them to win this election so badly,” Trump asserted, adding that Zelenskyy walks away with significant sums of U.S. financial support each time he visits. “Every time he comes into the country, he walks away with 60 billion dollars,” Trump said, criticizing the level of U.S. aid given to Ukraine.

Trump also suggested that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine could have been avoided if he had been in office. He promised that if re-elected, he would personally call both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate a peace deal and bring an end to the conflict.

So far, neither Zelenskyy’s office nor Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign have responded to Trump’s comments. Last week, Trump indicated that he would “probably” meet with Zelenskyy during the Ukrainian leader’s visit to the U.S., although no official meeting has been confirmed.–News Desk
