Turkish and Saudi Foreign Ministers Discuss US-Israeli Offensive on Iran

Leaders Hold Phone Talks

ISTANBUL — Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud held a phone conversation on Sunday to discuss the ongoing **US-Israeli military offensive on Iran. Turkish Foreign Ministry sources confirmed that both officials focused on diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.

Escalation of Regional Hostilities

The talks come as hostilities in the region have intensified since Feb. 28, when Israel and the United States launched joint strikes on Iran, reportedly killing more than 1,200 people, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran’s Response and Economic Impact

In retaliation, Iran has conducted drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military assets. Tehran has also closed the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for oil tankers, which has increased shipping and insurance costs and contributed to rising global oil prices.

Focus on Diplomatic Resolution

Both foreign ministers emphasized the need for diplomatic measures to prevent further escalation and stabilize the region. Analysts say ongoing discussions between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia could influence broader international efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict.
