A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner ended in Moscow on Saturday after around three hours of discussions focused on the Ukraine war.
According to Russian state media, the US envoys left the Kremlin following negotiations that began at approximately 7:55 p.m. local time. Russian presidential aides Yury Ushakov and Kirill Dmitriev also took part in the talks.
Neither Russia nor the United States immediately revealed details about the outcome. Before the meeting, Putin described the situation as complicated but said that Russia was prepared to share its assessment of the conflict. He also said that discussions between the two sides were useful.
Witkoff thanked Putin for agreeing to a three-day ceasefire during the envoys’ visit to Moscow and Kyiv. He also delivered thanks from the family of former US Marine Robert Gilman, who was released from Russian detention last month after being imprisoned since 2022.
Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Moscow on Saturday and are expected to travel to Kyiv on Sunday. US President Donald Trump said the envoys were carrying a proposal intended to bring an end to the war, which has lasted for more than four years, although he did not disclose details of the plan.
The two US representatives had previously visited Moscow in January.
