Gallant Hosts U.K. Defense Secretary Healey in First Official Visit

Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant welcomed U.K. Secretary of State for Defense John Healey during his inaugural visit to Israel since assuming office. During their meeting, Minister Gallant provided an operational situation assessment and discussed the strong defense ties between Israel and the U.K.

The two leaders emphasized their shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in strategic and military areas, including intelligence. Minister Gallant expressed gratitude for Britain’s continued support for Israel’s right to self-defense and the crucial defense cooperation during Israel’s April conflict.

Minister Gallant highlighted the IDF’s readiness and capabilities to defend Israel on all fronts, stressing the importance of forming a coalition to protect against threats from Iran and its proxies. This coalition would significantly impact regional and global security and stability.

Regarding the southern front, Minister Gallant discussed the progress in the war’s objectives, including the elimination of senior Hamas leaders and the dismantling of Hamas infrastructure.

The Minister reiterated Israel’s commitment to securing the return of hostages and stressed the importance of establishing a framework for their release.

The visit included a one-on-one discussion between Minister Gallant and Secretary Healey, followed by a bilateral meeting with senior staff, including the Head of the IDF’s Operations Directorate, Director of the Policy Bureau, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defense, and Military Secretary to the Minister of Defense.–News Desk
