CBP Officers Intercept Nearly $1 Million Worth of Cocaine at US-Mexico Border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the U.S.–Mexico border crossing near Hidalgo, Texas, seized nearly $1 million worth of cocaine hidden inside a vehicle over the weekend.
According to an official statement from the CBP’s Office of Field Operations, officers discovered the illicit drugs during a routine inspection at the international bridge checkpoint. A total of 76.66 pounds (34.78 kilograms) of suspected cocaine was found concealed within the vehicle.
The estimated street value of the confiscated narcotics is approximately $989,000.
“This significant drug seizure highlights the vigilance and commitment of our frontline officers in preventing dangerous narcotics from entering our country,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez. “Our officers remain dedicated to securing the border and protecting our communities from the devastating impact of drug trafficking.”
The case is currently under investigation by federal authorities, and no further details about the individuals involved have been released at this time.
