Oman Pakistan enhance education sector collaboration through ministerial talks

Ambassador of Oman Fahad Khalaf Al-Kharusi met Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in the education sector.

The Education Minister highlighted the historic ties between Pakistan and Oman and expressed hope for enhanced collaboration, particularly in Arabic language education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). He emphasized the importance of Arabic for understanding the Holy Quran and proposed introducing Arabic courses in schools and colleges nationwide.

Both officials also discussed promoting mutual cultural understanding through the translation of literature between Urdu and Arabic. The Omani Ambassador welcomed the proposals and reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to deepening educational collaboration, noting the progress made on MoUs signed since 2019.

Experts say the meeting signals a growing focus on regional cooperation in education and skills development. By enhancing Arabic language education and vocational training, both countries aim to equip students with knowledge and competencies that meet international standards.

The development reflects a shared commitment to strengthening educational ties, promoting cultural exchange, and preparing the next generation of students for global opportunities while deepening diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Oman.
