Iran Warning Operation Targets US Destroyers

Missile Drone Demonstration Signals Maritime Resolve

Iran Claims Naval Warning Operation Prompted US Destroyer Withdrawal

Iran’s military has announced that its naval forces conducted a warning operation against US destroyers operating in the Sea of Oman, describing the move as part of a broader response to ongoing maritime disputes between the two countries.

According to a statement released by the Iranian Army’s public relations office, naval units deployed missiles and offensive drones to issue warnings toward two US destroyers identified as DDG-103 and DDG-87. Iranian authorities said the action was intended to counter what they characterized as American interference at sea and the seizure of Iranian commercial and oil vessels.

The statement claimed that following the operation, the US warships departed the Sea of Oman and proceeded toward the Indian Ocean. Iranian officials further asserted that similar military activities in recent days had also influenced the movement of additional American naval assets operating in the region.

Among the vessels mentioned were destroyers assigned to the USS George H.W. Bush carrier strike group as well as the amphibious assault ship Tripoli. Iranian military officials argued that these naval deployments have contributed to heightened tensions and disruptions in regional maritime activity.

Tehran accused US forces of undermining shipping security and interfering with commercial navigation routes. The Iranian military also alleged that the targeted destroyers functioned as operational coordination centers for actions directed against Iranian maritime interests.

Military officials overseeing the operation called on Washington to halt what they described as hostile activities and unlawful interference involving Iranian commercial shipping. The statement emphasized that Iran remains prepared to respond to developments affecting its maritime interests and regional security.

Iranian forces reportedly used Qadir missiles and Shahed Danesh offensive drones during the warning mission. While military authorities acknowledged that the US vessels had moved beyond the effective range of the weapons employed, they stressed that longer-range capabilities remain available if required.

The incident comes amid continuing regional tensions and heightened military activity across strategic waterways linking the Middle East with global energy markets. The Sea of Oman remains a critical maritime corridor, making developments in the area closely watched by international observers and regional stakeholders.

As geopolitical friction persists, naval encounters in the region continue to draw attention due to their potential implications for maritime security, commercial shipping, and broader regional stability.
