AI Radio Host Stirs Controversy in Poland

A radio station in Krakow, Poland, sparked backlash after replacing its journalists with AI-generated hosts. “OFF Radio Krakow” resumed broadcasts using AI weeks after laying off its staff, stating the goal of the experiment was to explore AI’s impact on media and journalism. Former host Mateusz Demski launched a petition against the move, warning that AI could replace experienced workers, and the petition has gained over 15,000 signatures. Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski criticized the use of AI, stressing it should benefit people, not replace them. The station’s owner, Marcin Pulit, clarified the layoffs were due to declining listeners, not the AI project.
