Australian Tennis Icon Fraser Passes Away at 91

Neale Fraser, a celebrated Australian tennis icon, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 91.

Tennis Australia honored Fraser as one of the sport’s greats, remembering his exceptional career. He won a total of 19 Grand Slam titles in both singles and doubles, including three Grand Slam singles championships. Fraser triumphed at the US Open in 1959 and 1960, and claimed the Wimbledon title in 1960.

As captain of the Australian Davis Cup team from 1970 to 1993, Fraser led his nation to four Davis Cup victories in 1973, 1977, 1983, and 1986.

Fraser’s accomplishments were recognized with his induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1984 and the Australian Tennis Hall of Fame in 1994. He was also awarded the Philippe Chatrier Award by the International Tennis Federation in 2008 for his significant contributions to the sport.
