High-level diplomatic engagement between Russia and North Korea has intensified following a key meeting in Pyongyang between Andrey Belousov and Kim Jong-un.
During the talks, both sides explored current dynamics and future pathways for military collaboration. According to Russia’s defense ministry, discussions focused on strengthening defense ties and establishing a structured, long-term framework for cooperation.
Belousov revealed that both countries are preparing to formalize a comprehensive military interaction plan covering the period from 2027 to 2031. The agreement aims to institutionalize defense relations and ensure continuity in joint initiatives.
Expressing appreciation for the reception in Pyongyang, the Russian minister described bilateral relations as reaching unprecedented levels. He emphasized that the current year is expected to bring further high-profile engagements across multiple sectors, signaling deeper strategic alignment.
Belousov also acknowledged North Korea’s invitation to attend the inauguration of a museum and memorial complex honoring Korean military achievements abroad. He described participation in the event as both an honor and a symbol of strengthening ties.
The meeting highlights a significant step in expanding Russia–North Korea relations, with both nations moving toward more coordinated and sustained military cooperation.
