Biden’s Prostate Cancer Spreads to Bones, Son Says
Former US President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread to other parts of his body, including his bones, and is causing him significant pain, according to his son, Hunter Biden.
Speaking in an interview with the BBC on Friday, Hunter Biden became emotional while discussing his father’s condition and described the impact of the illness on the family.
“The cancer has spread, metastasized into his bones and further,” Hunter Biden said, adding that the disease had become “very painful” and debilitating for the former president.
Biden, 83, was the oldest person to serve as US president. His age and health became increasingly prominent political issues during his four-year presidency, particularly toward the end of his term.
His administration and senior advisers also faced criticism over claims that the seriousness of his health concerns had not been fully disclosed. The issue drew renewed attention after Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race following a widely criticized debate performance against Donald Trump, who later succeeded him as president.
Biden publicly revealed his prostate cancer diagnosis in May 2025, less than four months after leaving the White House.
Hunter Biden said the diagnosis had been particularly painful for the family, describing the experience of watching his father cope with the disease.
“It’s really sad to watch,” he said, while adding that he wished his father would speak more openly about the difficulties he is experiencing.
The latest comments provide a rare public account from Biden’s family about the former president’s deteriorating health as he continues to undergo treatment for the advanced disease.
