Carney to Attend Forever Canadian Rallies in Alberta

Carney Backs Unity Campaign Ahead of Alberta Referendum

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will attend two Forever Canadian rallies in Alberta this week ahead of the province’s October 19 referendum.
Carney is scheduled to visit Calgary on Thursday and Edmonton on Friday after accepting an invitation from Thomas Lukaszuk, founder of the Forever Canadian campaign.
The upcoming referendum will ask Albertans to vote on 10 questions covering immigration and constitutional matters. One question will address whether Alberta should remain part of Canada or hold a binding referendum on separation.
Lukaszuk invited Carney through a social media post on Monday and welcomed the prime minister’s decision to participate. He said Carney’s presence would strengthen the campaign and give Albertans an opportunity to hear directly from the country’s leader.
The rallies are expected to highlight the movement’s efforts to keep Alberta within Canada as the province prepares for the crucial vote.
