Pharr, Texas — April 14, 2025 — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility have seized a major drug shipment worth more than $14.6 million. The narcotics, identified as alleged methamphetamine, were concealed within a shipment falsely declared as fresh bell peppers.
The total street value of the seized drugs is approximately $14,620,900, according to CBP. Officers detected the illegal substances during a thorough inspection at the Texas-Mexico border crossing, a key point of entry for commercial goods.
This successful interception is part of ongoing efforts by CBP’s Office of Field Operations to prevent dangerous drugs from entering the United States. The agency emphasized the importance of vigilance and advanced detection methods in identifying smuggling attempts hidden within legitimate trade.
CBP has not released further details about arrests or the origin of the shipment, but investigations are ongoing.
This seizure highlights the increasing creativity of traffickers and the critical role of frontline officers in protecting American communities from the flow of illicit narcotics.
