CBP Seizes Nearly 150,000 Illegal Cigarettes from Cruise Ship Passengers at Long Beach Terminal

LOS ANGELES, May 14, 2025 – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Los Angeles/Long Beach Seaport seized 749 cartons of smuggled cigarettes—totaling nearly 150,000 individual cigarettes—from a couple arriving on a cruise ship at the Long Beach Cruise Ship Terminal.

During a routine inspection of passengers disembarking from the cruise ship, CBP officers flagged suspicious luggage belonging to two travelers. Upon examination, authorities discovered the large cache of undeclared cigarettes concealed within their personal baggage.
