Chicago Murder Suspect Arrested in Nebraska While Driving Semi-Truck

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — A man wanted for homicide in Chicago was arrested in Nebraska on Wednesday while driving a semi-truck, authorities confirmed.

Essian McGinnis, a resident of Tinley Park, Illinois, was taken into custody by the Nebraska State Patrol in North Platte. The arrest followed a tip that McGinnis was traveling westbound through Nebraska in a commercial vehicle.

State troopers located the semi parked in a business lot just south of Interstate 80. Officers quickly confirmed McGinnis’ identity and arrested him without incident.

McGinnis is currently being held at the Lincoln County Jail on an active Cook County, Illinois, warrant for homicide.

The Nebraska State Patrol is actively collaborating with the United States Marshals Service and the Chicago Police Department as part of the ongoing investigation.
