China Opposes US Military Aid to Taiwan

China has strongly condemned the US approval of $571.3 million in defense aid for Taiwan, calling it a “grave violation” of its sovereignty and security interests. The aid package, which includes military equipment and training, was authorized by President Biden just three months after a similar deal. Beijing responded by lodging formal protests with Washington, asserting that such actions contradict the US’s pledges not to support Taiwan’s independence. The ongoing military assistance, including the recent delivery of Abrams tanks to Taiwan, intensifies tensions, with China demanding that the US halt its support for the island.
