Gallant Marks One-Year Anniversary of Hamas Attack with Visits to Southern Israel

On October 7, 2024, Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant, accompanied by his wife Claudine Gallant, visited several communities in southern Israel to commemorate the first anniversary of the devastating Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. The visit was marked by Gallant’s engagement with residents and families affected by the tragedy, as well as his participation in memorial events.

Minister Gallant toured the communities of Nativ Ha’asara, Yakhini, Nahal Oz, and Ofakim, speaking with local residents and meeting with families of hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza. In Nahal Oz, Gallant lit a memorial candle in the military base’s command and control room to honor the fallen soldiers. He also visited the Nova Festival memorial site, where the attack took place, and viewed an exhibit in the Eshkol Regional Council, reflecting on the tragic events of last year.

Later in the day, Gallant visited the community support center in the ‘Mishor HaGefen’ neighborhood of Ofakim, alongside Mayor Itzik Danino. His visit emphasized both remembrance and resilience, as the communities continue to rebuild one year after the horrific attack.–News Desk
