Semi Hauling Dairy Cattle Overturns in Gary
Gary, IN — A semi-truck carrying 126 dairy cattle overturned around 7:55 AM on the ramp from I-65 North to I-80 Westbound, prompting a swift response from the Gary Fire Department.
Firefighters collaborated with District 1 Large Animal Rescue and Hein’s Farms Inc. to safely extract the cattle from the overturned trailer. The rescued animals were then transported via Hein’s Farms’ livestock units.
The truck driver was unharmed, while two cattle sustained injuries of undetermined severity.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
