Greece Israel Hold Joint Naval Exercise

Greece Israel Boost Naval Cooperation Exercise

Greek and Israeli naval forces recently conducted a joint military exercise in the Eastern Mediterranean, according to media reports published Thursday.

The exercise involved two Greek frigates and two Israeli missile boats, which participated in complex operational scenarios, Greece’s Kathimerini newspaper reported. The newspaper described the drill as having significant symbolic importance.

The exercise focused on detecting and responding to maritime threats, carrying out search-and-rescue missions and handling emergency situations.

According to the report, the training was intended to strengthen coordination between the Greek and Israeli navies and improve their ability to operate together in challenging situations.

Türkiye has repeatedly called for the Eastern Mediterranean to remain a region of cooperation rather than confrontation. During a meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis in June, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stressed the importance of avoiding actions that could threaten regional stability or target Türkiye.
