President Isaac Herzog Speaks with Victim of Antisemitic Attack in Montreal
On Monday evening, President Isaac Herzog held a phone conversation with a Jewish Canadian man who was violently attacked in an antisemitic incident on the streets of Montreal, witnessed by his children.
Video footage of the assault showed the attacker repeatedly striking the victim’s face and throwing his kippah into the water, all in front of his young children.
Also participating in the call was Yair Szlak, the head of the Montreal Jewish Federation.
The victim expressed gratitude to President Herzog and shared details about the attack and its impact on his life.
President Herzog offered words of comfort and support, saying, “We saw the horrific attack. I want to send strength and solace to you and your family, especially your beautiful children. May you recover quickly in both body and spirit from this terrible experience. We stand with you, and the entire Jewish people are by your side.”
Additionally, President Herzog extended an invitation for the victim and his family to visit the President’s Residence in Jerusalem in the near future.
