Iran Rejects Ongoing Talks with US, Issues Warning Over Military Bases
Tehran Denies Diplomatic Engagement
Iran has confirmed that it is not currently holding any negotiations with the United States. A senior parliamentary official clarified the position on Thursday, dismissing claims of ongoing diplomatic contact.
Warning to Regional States
At the same time, Iran warned that any country allowing its territory or military bases to be used against it would face serious consequences. Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, stated that Iran would treat such nations as enemies.
He made these remarks after meeting with senior military and defense officials to review operations against the US and Israel.
Kharg Island Remains Operational
Rezaei also confirmed that security has been restored on Kharg Island. He added that oil exports from the island continue without disruption.
Earlier, Donald Trump claimed that US strikes had destroyed most of the island’s military facilities while leaving key oil infrastructure intact.
Conflicting Narratives on Diplomacy
However, Rezaei’s statement contradicts Trump’s earlier remarks suggesting that Iranian officials were willing to negotiate, although not immediately prepared to do so. This difference highlights ongoing uncertainty around potential diplomatic efforts.
Escalation and Retaliation
The conflict began on Feb. 28, when US and Israeli forces launched strikes on Iran. Reports indicate that about 1,300 people have died, including Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran carried out drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military bases. These actions have increased tensions across the region.
