Russia Raises Alarm Over Gulf Conflict, Offers Diplomatic Mediation
Moscow Calls for Immediate End to Hostilities
Russia has expressed serious concern over the escalating conflict in the Gulf and urged an immediate halt to military actions. Officials also offered to support efforts aimed at reaching a diplomatic resolution.
Blames US and Israel for Escalation
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the scale of destruction across Iran and nearby Arab states continues to grow, particularly affecting energy facilities and essential infrastructure. Moscow described the situation as a result of “unprovoked aggression” by the United States and Israel.
Push for Political Resolution
Furthermore, Russian authorities stated their readiness to facilitate dialogue and help achieve long-term regional stability. However, they stressed that any meaningful progress depends on Washington and Tel Aviv immediately ending what they called a “military adventure.”
Military Ties and Denials
While Russia has acknowledged military cooperation with Iran, it rejected claims of sharing intelligence about US targets. Vladimir Putin reportedly assured Donald Trump that no such intelligence exchange had taken place. This statement came after remarks by US envoy Steve Witkoff.
Rising Casualties and Regional Impact
The conflict began on Feb. 28, when US and Israeli forces launched strikes on Iran. Reports indicate that around 1,300 people have died, including Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
In response, Iran carried out drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf states hosting US military bases. As a result, the attacks have caused casualties, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted global markets and air travel.
