Israeli Army Detains 20 Palestinians in West Bank Raids Amid Ongoing Conflict

On Wednesday, the Israeli army detained 20 more Palestinians during a series of raids across the occupied West Bank, according to the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner Society. The arrests occurred in Hebron, Jenin, Bethlehem, and Qalqilya, where Israeli forces reportedly assaulted and threatened detainees and their families, as well as vandalized their homes.

These latest detentions bring the total number of Palestinians detained by the Israeli army in the West Bank since October last year to 9,400, including those who were subsequently released, according to Palestinian figures.

The Israeli military has conducted regular raids in the West Bank over the past few years, with an escalation in operations following the start of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023. Alongside these military actions, Palestinians have faced violent attacks from illegal Israeli settlers.

Since the onset of the conflict, at least 553 Palestinians, including 133 children, have been killed and nearly 5,200 others injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied territory, as reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Israel faces accusations of “genocide” at the International Court of Justice. In its latest ruling, the court ordered Israel to immediately halt its military operations in Rafah, a city in the southern Gaza Strip where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge before it was invaded on May 6.–News Desk
