Princess Catherine will host a Christmas service at Westminster Abbey on Friday, focusing on “the most difficult times” and the importance of love and empathy, as she returns to public duties after her cancer diagnosis. The service will emphasize the significance of mutual support during challenging moments in life.
Guests will receive a special order of service featuring artwork by British artist Charlie Mackesy, which includes a reflective question, “How did I help?” and a reply, “You were by my side, which was everything.” Catherine will attend with her husband, Prince William, and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
In September, the Princess of Wales shared that she had completed chemotherapy for an undisclosed cancer and was eager to resume her engagements when possible. She has since participated in several public events, including Remembrance Day and a visit to Southport to meet with victims of a deadly knife attack.
The service will include families affected by the attack and will also honor those who have selflessly supported their communities, either through personal efforts or volunteer work. Among the guests is Olympic champion Chris Hoy, who will light a candle despite his terminal cancer diagnosis. Performances will feature Paloma Faith and Gregory Porter, with each guest receiving a thank-you letter from Catherine.
