Monday marks the final day of early voting in Illinois ahead of the 2024 Election Day, and it’s anticipated to be one of the busiest days of the early voting period.
Max Bever from the Chicago Board of Elections noted that Mondays typically see high voter turnout. On Sunday, long lines formed at the Voting Supersite located at 191 North Clark Street, and a similar turnout is expected for Monday.
Historically, around 40,000 voters have participated in early voting on the day before Election Day, and the CBOE predicts comparable numbers this year.
Officials in Chicago warned that early voting locations on the northside and along the lakefront may experience two-hour wait times due to their accessibility via public transportation. In contrast, shorter lines are anticipated on the west side, according to the CBOE.
