Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing at the Kremlin on August 18 during the Myanmar leader’s official visit to Russia, according to the Kremlin.
The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between Russia and Myanmar across various sectors. Their talks will also cover major regional and international developments.
The Kremlin said that several bilateral agreements and documents are expected to be signed during Min Aung Hlaing’s visit, potentially expanding cooperation between the two countries.
Putin and Min Aung Hlaing have met several times in recent years, including a meeting at the Kremlin in March 2025. Russia and Myanmar have maintained close political and military relations, while Moscow has also participated in energy and infrastructure projects in Myanmar.
Min Aung Hlaing travelled to Russia three times last year. He visited Moscow in March for discussions with Putin, attended a military parade in May marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, and returned in September to participate in the World Atomic Week forum.
Despite their growing bilateral relationship, Putin has not yet made an official visit to Myanmar.
