National Guard launches supply hub in Washington

Logistics hub supports 2300 troops in DC

National Guard Opens New Supply Hub to Support D.C. Safety Mission

Washington, D.C. – September 10, 2025 – A new logistics hub has been established to support more than 2,300 National Guard members serving in the nation’s capital as part of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force, under Joint Task Force–District of Columbia.

Centralized Support for Guard Members

The facility, known as Logistics Support Area Lincoln (LSA Lincoln), is located at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in southeast Washington. It serves as a central point for storing and distributing food, water, and other essential supplies to Guard members across the city.

“This setup makes everything easier,” said Air Force Col. Thomas A. Conley, deputy commander for support with the joint task force. “Workflow makes sense, traffic flow makes sense—you can see everything you need in one place.”

Efficiency and Speed

Because of its location near major highways, the hub allows for quicker deliveries throughout the district. Supplies arrive at the LSA and are then distributed to soldiers and airmen supporting the mission.

“This is outstanding practice on the home field,” Conley said. “It’s a microcosm of what we do when we go overseas.”

Built in Just One Week

The logistics area moved from planning to full operation in only a week. The site relies on tents, trailers, large shipping containers, and other temporary structures, giving the task force flexibility to expand or scale down as needed.

“This location ensures our people have everything required to accomplish the mission,” Conley added.

Supporting Safety in the Capital

More than 2,300 National Guard troops remain on duty as part of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Mission. They continue to assist the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department in maintaining security for residents, workers, and visitors across the capital.
