The process began on May 4, with households receiving invitation letters by mail. These notices provide detailed instructions on how residents can access and complete the census questionnaire, primarily through online platforms.
Conducted under a legal mandate, the census remains a critical tool for policymakers, businesses and communities seeking to understand demographic trends and plan for future needs.
Officials emphasized the long-standing importance of the exercise. Chief Statistician André Loranger noted that for more than a century, census data has played a central role in tracking Canada’s social and economic evolution.
