The Palestinian Civil Defense service reported on Tuesday that more than 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for beneath the debris throughout Gaza, following the continuation of hostilities that began on October 7. According to a statement from the agency, these figures comprise those missing from the hundreds of homes destroyed since the onset of the Israeli attacks. The statement highlighted that these missing individuals are not yet included in the Health Ministry’s casualty figures, which suggest the death toll could exceed 44,000. Rescue efforts have recently shifted to recovering highly decomposed bodies in northern Gaza. Meanwhile, the conflict has led to severe humanitarian crises across Gaza, with significant casualties, widespread destruction, and critical shortages of basic supplies, pushing the majority of the population into displacement. Israel, which initiated the military action in response to a Hamas attack last October, has faced accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which has demanded that Israel cease actions deemed genocidal and ensure civilian access to humanitarian aid.–News Desk
