Over $760K Worth of Cocaine Seized at Texas Border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry in Pharr, Texas, made a significant drug bust this week, confiscating over $761,000 worth of cocaine. The seizure took place at the Pharr International Bridge on April 25, involving a 2008 Dodge driven by a 58-year-old Mexican citizen.

During a routine inspection, a CBP officer referred the vehicle for a more detailed secondary inspection. This included the use of non-intrusive imaging technology and assistance from CBP canines. The examination led to the discovery of 24 packages hidden within the vehicle, totaling 57 pounds of alleged cocaine.

Carlos Rodriguez, Port Director at the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry, praised the effectiveness of the CBP officers, highlighting their proficiency in leveraging technology and experience to secure the border while facilitating lawful trade and travel.

Following the discovery, CBP officers seized both the narcotics, valued at approximately $761,803, and the vehicle. The driver was arrested, and Homeland Security Investigations special agents have launched a criminal investigation into the incident.–News Desk
