ISLAMABAD – May 8, 2025: In a significant development along the eastern front, the Pakistan Army has shot down 25 Israeli-made Harop drones reportedly operated by India, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing confirmed that these drones were neutralized during a series of strategic defensive operations after they violated Pakistan’s airspace. The Harop drones, manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), are loitering munitions that can autonomously target and strike based on pre-set coordinates, making them a notable threat in modern warfare.
The ISPR stated that the drones were being used by Indian forces for surveillance and potential offensive operations near sensitive locations. “Pakistan Army’s air defense systems responded effectively, downing all hostile aerial threats before they could cause significant damage,” the statement read.
In a related incident, four Pakistan Army personnel were injured in Lahore due to hostile drone activity. The Director General of ISPR confirmed that the injured soldiers are receiving medical treatment and are currently in stable condition.
The military reaffirmed its resolve to defend Pakistan’s airspace and sovereignty at all costs. “Any future violation will be met with a decisive and immediate response,” the ISPR warned.
This development marks a sharp escalation in regional tensions and highlights the increasing use of advanced drone warfare in South Asia.
