Polish President Skips Photo Over Belarus Leader

Polish President Andrzej Duda skipped the official group photo at COP29 in Baku on Tuesday due to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s presence. Duda attended the welcome ceremony but chose not to join the other leaders for the photo. This decision mirrored his stance at COP28 in Dubai last year for the same reason. Poland has been vocal against Belarus, a key ally of Russia in the ongoing Ukraine war, and declared Russia a “state sponsor of terrorism” in 2022. COP29, focused on global climate action, is gathering leaders and experts to discuss urgent solutions.
