President Herzog Visits Serbia, Urges International Focus on Hostages

Israeli President Isaac Herzog arrived in Belgrade this morning for an official visit, where he met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. The visit highlights the strong ties between the two nations and underscores the shared humanitarian concerns involving Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

President Herzog was accompanied by Idit Ohel, whose son Alon was taken hostage by Hamas on October 7th during the Nova Festival. Alon, a young Israeli musician of Serbian origin, remains in captivity in Gaza. Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić, a relative of Alon, was also present to receive President Herzog.

Following his meeting with President Vučić, Herzog expressed his gratitude for Serbia’s hospitality and highlighted the international importance of securing the return of the hostages. “The world must remember and know that the plight and the return of the hostages should be the utmost objective of the international community,” Herzog stated, emphasizing the need for unified global efforts in addressing this critical issue.–News Desk
