Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday signed a decree removing Andrey Kelin from his position as Russia’s ambassador to the UK, following the scheduled conclusion of his tenure.
The decision was formally announced through a presidential decree published on the Russian government’s official portal. Kelin has served as Moscow’s ambassador in London since 2019.
Earlier this month, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said Kelin’s assignment in the UK would end as planned and that his replacement would be named at a later stage.
No information has been provided about Kelin’s next position or future responsibilities.
Putin’s latest decision came one day after he also removed Aleksey Meshkov as Russia’s ambassador to France, a position Meshkov had held since 2017.
