Progressive Bulgaria Secures Major Victory In Parliamentary Vote

Preliminary results indicate that former president Rumen Radev’s Progressive Bulgaria coalition has emerged as the clear frontrunner in Bulgaria’s latest parliamentary elections, securing 44.6 percent of the vote.

The figures were released by the Central Election Commission after processing all voting protocols nationwide. The commission confirmed that Progressive Bulgaria holds a significant lead over its competitors.

The GERB-SDS alliance followed in second place with 13.3 percent, while the “We Continue the Change Democratic Bulgaria” bloc (PP-DB) captured 12.6 percent of the vote.

Further down the results, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) gained around 7 percent, with Vazrazhdane securing 4.3 percent. Smaller parties, including MECh, Velichie, BSP-OL, and Siyanie, each recorded modest shares ranging between 2.9 and 3.2 percent. Other groups such as APS, ITN, and SB remained below 2 percent.

The vote marks Bulgaria’s eighth parliamentary election since 2021, highlighting ongoing political instability in the country.

Under national electoral rules, final results and seat allocations must be confirmed within four days, while the official list of elected lawmakers is expected within a week.

Radev, a former Air Force commander who served as president until stepping down earlier this year, established the Progressive Bulgaria coalition ahead of the election as part of his bid to return to frontline politics.
