Recycled Christmas Trees Used to Restore Marshland in New Orleans

In an innovative conservation effort, a Louisiana Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter deployed a load of recycled Christmas trees into the Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge in New Orleans on March 20, 2024. This annual Christmas Tree Drop aims to bolster marshland restoration by creating a wave break that traps sediment, a critical part of a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service program.–Photo By: Army Staff Sgt.
