Amman, Jordan – January 29, 2025 – Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ) has strengthened its strategic investment portfolio by increasing its stake in Jordan Flight Catering Company to 51%, reinforcing its commitment to delivering superior in-flight services while expanding its financial and operational influence in the aviation sector.
The Jordan Flight Catering Company (JFCC) is a joint venture between Royal Jordanian, dnata, and Eastern Aviation Investments. With this latest development, Royal Jordanian secures a majority stake, while dnata, a leading global air and travel services provider, maintains its 25% ownership in the venture. The investment aligns with RJ’s strategy to enhance revenue streams, optimize supporting business units, and maintain its competitive edge as a leading carrier in the Middle East.
Extension of Long-Standing Catering Partnership
In addition to acquiring the majority stake, Royal Jordanian and Jordan Flight Catering Company have extended their catering services agreement for another 10 years. The extension ensures that RJ passengers will continue to receive world-class in-flight dining services, prepared by highly skilled chefs at JFCC.
Under this agreement, JFCC will produce over four million meals annually for 17,000 Royal Jordanian flights, enhancing the passenger experience with high-quality cuisine tailored to diverse tastes. The collaboration also solidifies dnata’s continued oversight of the catering company’s operations, ensuring that it maintains world-class service standards for its 34 airline customers.
A Strategic Move for Operational Excellence
Samer Majali, Vice Chairman and CEO of Royal Jordanian, emphasized that acquiring a majority stake in JFCC is a crucial step toward optimizing operational efficiency and strengthening the airline’s investment ecosystem.
“This acquisition is part of our broader vision to enhance operational flexibility, improve resource allocation, and ensure competitive pricing for catering services. While Royal Jordanian now holds a majority stake, JFCC will continue to be managed independently by dnata under a long-term operational agreement, ensuring seamless service for all its airline partners,” Majali stated.
Maintaining World-Class Standards in Airline Catering
As a renowned global catering provider, dnata has played a pivotal role in maintaining JFCC’s exceptional service standards, not only for RJ but also for multiple international airlines operating in Jordan. The renewed agreement solidifies dnata’s commitment to delivering high-quality in-flight meals and maintaining best-in-class catering operations.
Dana Kamal Adwan, CEO of dnata Catering & Retail, Jordan, expressed pride in the extended partnership with Royal Jordanian, highlighting dnata’s commitment to continuous innovation and excellence in airline catering.
“We are proud to strengthen our long-standing collaboration with Royal Jordanian, a partnership built on trust and shared dedication to service excellence. Our combination of global expertise and local talent ensures that RJ passengers and our other airline clients receive premium culinary experiences on every flight departing from Amman,” Adwan said.
She further emphasized dnata’s ongoing investments in staff training, infrastructure, and product development, reinforcing its leadership in the Jordanian catering industry.
Global Reach and Expansion
Beyond Jordan, dnata also provides catering services for Royal Jordanian flights in key international markets, including the United Kingdom and the United States. This global partnership ensures consistent quality and service excellence across RJ’s extensive network.
The acquisition of a majority stake in Jordan Flight Catering Company marks a milestone in Royal Jordanian’s long-term growth strategy, reinforcing its focus on financial sustainability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. With a decade-long extension of their catering partnership, RJ passengers can expect enhanced in-flight dining experiences as part of the airline’s ongoing commitment to delivering superior air travel services.–Edited by Ali
