Black, visited Sweden from Oct. 21-24 to strengthen U.S.-Swedish military relations, discussing defense cooperation and noncommissioned officer (NCO) development with Swedish Command Sgt. Maj. Johan Lindgren. Touring the Swedish Air Defense Regiment in Halmstad and the Älvsborg Marine Regiment in Gothenburg, Black gained insights into Sweden’s air defense advancements and marine capabilities, focusing on NCO roles in complex operational settings.
At Halmstad, Black was briefed on air defense training and NATO integration under the recent U.S.-Swedish Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA), which enables U.S. operations in Sweden. The Älvsborg Marine Regiment, vital for Sweden’s west coast defense, showcased its amphibious mobility and interoperability through live demonstrations.
