Iranian State TV Reports Death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei
Iranian state television announced on Sunday that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed following joint bombardment by the United States and Israel.
Although the broadcaster confirmed his death, it did not share further details about how the strike occurred or the exact circumstances.
National Mourning Declared
Soon after the announcement, state media declared 40 days of public mourning across Iran.
In addition, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council stated that Khamenei died at his office early Saturday. The council described his death as the start of what it called a “great uprising against the tyrants of the world.”
Revolutionary Guard Vows Retaliation
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps pledged to take strong revenge. In an official statement, the Guard said it would “decisively avenge” Khamenei’s killing. It also declared that the Iranian people would not forgive those responsible.
Furthermore, the Guard described Khamenei’s death as martyrdom in the path of Islam and “Greater Iran.” According to the statement, his mission would continue with strength and determination. The group urged citizens to join national defense gatherings to show unity in the face of what it called enemies and terrorists.
Trump Confirms Death on Social Media
At the same time, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed Khamenei’s death on his social media platform, Truth Social.
In his post, Trump wrote that Khamenei was “dead,” calling him “one of the most evil people in history.”
