Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend a two-day NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels starting Tuesday. The discussions will take place in three sessions.
The first session will focus on the Middle East crisis and NATO’s cooperation with Jordan, with King Abdullah II of Jordan in attendance. The second session, involving Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, will address the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022. Fidan is expected to reaffirm Turkey’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and call for diplomacy to end the war, while urging the EU to uphold its commitments to non-EU allies.
Fidan will also hold bilateral talks with fellow ministers on the sidelines of the meeting. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who assumed office on October 1, will chair the meeting.
