Turkish and Pakistani Foreign Ministers Discuss US-Iran Ceasefire

Ankara/Istanbul, 09 April 2026 – Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke with his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar on Thursday about the temporary two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, and the upcoming negotiations in Islamabad later this week.

Phone Talks on Ceasefire

The ministers held a phone call, according to Turkish diplomatic sources, to review progress on de-escalation efforts and the next steps in the peace process.

Context of the Ceasefire

Iran and the US announced a two-week truce on Tuesday, intended to pave the way for a final agreement to end the conflict, which has caused thousands of deaths and injuries since 28 February.

Upcoming Negotiations

Officials expect the first round of formal negotiations to begin in Islamabad on Saturday, aiming to advance a broader settlement between Washington and Tehran.
